- The product is specific for hardwood and softwood, with a glue line resistant to temperature, humidity and solvents
- Does not stick to press platens (unlike vinyl acetate adhesives)
- Does not create problems in painting step
- Self-extinguishing (without oxidizing products the product is self-extinguishing), if the materials used in the manufacture are fireproof, the glue does not change flammability of the piece
- To use the product for finishing, it is necessary to add suitable vinyl acetate glue or excipients
- Rapid and high penetration of hardwoods
- Good resistance to water and solvents, limits problems with bubbles in the painting stage
- High adhesion, quick setting and resistance
- Good resistance to heat and moisture
Caution with woods with tannin!
Gluing at temperatures below 15°C can be ineffective
Storage at temperatures below 5°C and above 35°C can damage the product
Protect from moisture, store in a cool and dry place, tightly closed
The times should be increased by 1 minute every millimetre of thickness
The technical advice, though based on our best experience, is in any case merely indicative and must be confirmed by exhaustive practical tests. It does not remove the purchaser's responsibility to personally test our products to see whether they are suitable for the planned use
Gluing of solid wood with hot press in the production of window frames and interior furniture, where there is possible occasional exposure to water, condensation and humidity
Suitable for kitchens, bathroom furniture and in all those cases requiring good resistance to heat and moisture
Mix epoxy in non-metallic containers, except stainless steel, with cold water (15-20°C) in weight ratio: 2 (resin) to 1 (water) or in volume ratio: 4 (resin) to 1 (water). Dispersion is carried out by stirring, adding half the water needed to the resin until the product has no lumps. Then add the remaining water and shake until full dispersion. Spread the glue with glue roller or by brushing. The quantity must be dosed according to the porosity of the underlying material between 100 and 200 g/m2. Before the hot pressing, ensure that the glue is moist and sticky. Hard and resinous woods such as birch, ash, burr or tropical woods such as teak, rosewood, acacia etc. may require special formulations. Add D3 vinyl glue with variable percentage from 10% to 30% depending on the type of work and wood. It is necessary to carry out preliminary tests before proceeding with the bonding
Open time:
10 – 15 minutes. This is the maximum time that can elapse between spreading and pressing at a temperature of 20°C both for the environment and for the wood, coating of 150 g/m2, air humidity 50% and moisture content of the wood 10%
This time is reduced if:
- it is spread less than 150 g/m2
- the temperature is above 20°C
- the air humidity is lower than 50%
- the wood humidity is below 10%
- if the gluing takes place in environments with particularly hot air currents
Increases if:
- if spreading more than 150 g/m2
- the temperature is lower than 20°C
- the air humidity is higher than 50%
- the wood humidity is above 10%
Setting time:
This is the time that the item must remain pressed at a temperature of:
60°C/5 minutes
80°C/1.5 minutes
100°C/45 Sec
At these times, add 1 minute per mm thickness from the centre of the piece, Example1: beech 20 mm at 80°C = basic time 1.5 min., 20/2 mm = 10 mm x 1 min. = 10 minutes Pressing time = 1.5 10 = 11.5 minutes
Viscosity:
- not to be confused with the density; this is the difficulty of the product to flow
- 6000 ± 2000 mPas, sol. 2: 1 powder/water (for solid wood gluing high viscosities are preferable)
Life in cup: 15°C = 3 hours, 20°C = 2 hours, 25°C = 1 hour
Pressing times: 60°C – 5 min, 80°C = 90 sec, 100°C = 45 sec
