Preparation of surfaces:
Wait for full curing of new cement surfaces. Clean thoroughly by removing any oils, greases, form-release products (wait until the surface is completely dry in the event of pressure washing), dust, non-stick friable parts and loose parts. Seal the through holes of spacers using suitable stop ends and PU 40+ building adhesive sealant art. 0892212. Use fibre-reinforced mortar (e.g. SpeedCEM art. 0890353 to make sure that these points are even. Use the same mortar to make a cove base between the slab and the vertical wall. Any irregularities on the surface, excessively rough plastering and castings, holes, gravel clumps, cracks etc. should be repaired and/or trimmed using suitable mortars. Technical joints should be pre-treated with suitable products to ensure an effective hermetic seal. Highly absorbent surfaces should be pretreated with 300 g/m² of protective primer consisting of IMPELAST art. 0893220020 diluted to 50 % with water. Very compact and smooth surfaces (e.g. prestressed concrete etc.) should be pretreated with of 250 ml/m² of B4 primer art. 0893220018. Alternatively, if the surface is particularly problematic (slightly damp or chalky), use BK10 primer art. 0890350016+ art. 0890350017 (approx. 150 g/m²).
Ready to use: Do not dilute and do not use mechanical mixers. Mix by hand if necessary. After thorough preparation of the supports, apply two or more layers or WATERSTOP FONDAMENTA to the surface using a roller, brush or spatula, applying a total quantity of at least 2 kg/m2. Backfilling after application of WATERSTOP FONDAMENTA must not be carried out until the product is fully dry and never earlier than 96 hours after application. Humidity and low temperatures increase the drying times
