The NORD-LOCK system comprises a pair of wedge lock washers that has cams on one side and radial teeth on the opposite side
NORD-LOCK wedge lock washers are installed in pairs, cam face to cam face
When they are fitted, the radial teeth act on the surface in contact with the nut and the washers are locked in place
This allows movement of the washer only across the face of the cams and any loosening attempt of the bolt/nut to rotate loose due to vibrations is blocked by the wedge effect of the cams
In this way, the two washers work against one another increasing the thickness of the assembly and maintaining constant tension
NORD-LOCK washers have a cam angle which is greater than the thread pitch
