To differentiate between a JIC fitting and the more common BSP fitting, you can compare the sealing cones: In JIC nut fittings with a female thread, the sealing cone faces inwards and in BSP nut fittings with a female thread, the cone faces outwards.
The cone on the external threaded JIC fitting faces outwards, whereas the equivalent on the BSP fitting faces inwards
