- Tapping screws are thread-forming screws. These screws form their own counter thread when screwed into a prefabricated core hole
- Reference values for selecting the correct core-hole diameter are included in DIN 7975
Stainless steel tapping screws are softer than case-hardening steel tapping screws. These screws are therefore not able to form a counter thread in steel sheets. For this reason, they are used only in soft materials such as aluminium.
